Green burial documentary to be screened in Blacksburg, VA

green burial documentary "Dying Green"

Ramsey Creek Preserve, Westminster, SC

Those of us in the Piedmont of NC may know about the Durham green burial documentary A Will For the Woods, which chronicles a dying man’s drive to create a green burial cemetery in which to be interred. That cemetery is Wake Forest’s own Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

South Carolina vs. the Old North State in a green burial documentary duel!

It’s on! South Carolina, too, has a dog that’ll hunt, and there’s a screening coming up in a fine old theater just up the Blue Ridge in Blacksburg. A Virginia Tech professor of technology in society, together with advocates from the local Funeral Consumers Alliance, have come together to present and discuss the film Dying Green, which tells the story of a small-town doctor who decided to get into the green funeral business. What a business model! The woodland cemetery he founded in Westminster, SC, in 1998, Ramsey Creek Preserve, was the first of its kind in the United States. The screening happens March 20th.
